Dark Sky
Canoeing
An enchanting adventure on the water.
Experience a unique nighttime adventure on Coniston water where you can appreciate the stunning beauty of the night sky in the Lake District. Connect with like-minded individuals during this memorable adventure.
This guided canoe tour will commence just before sunset giving you time to familiarize yourself with paddling the canoe.
As darkness falls we will stop for hot chocolate and pause for a while to look up and marvel at the stars, identify some constellations and see the beauty of the Milky Way. If the clouds don't play ball - no problem, we will use technology to look through them, identify constellations and explore the myths and legends that surround them.
Family Dark Sky Canoeing:
A session in stable rafted canoes, offers a fun and safe experience - perfect for families.
Dark Sky Canoeing suitable for: Age 12+

Winter Ghyll Scrambling
A must do Lake District activity.
Situated in the heart of the spectacular Langdale Valley is Stickle Ghyll. A picturesque ghyll that winds its way up the mountainside towards the majestic Langdale Pikes.
Climb your way up the fun waterfalls and scrambles and take the plunge into crystal clear pools. This ghyll finishes with a spectacular roped climb up the middle of a 30ft waterfall! (optional).
Winter water levels make this ghyll super sporty and fun with options to get as wet as you wish to or stay a little drier if you prefer. With thick winter wetsuits, neoprene socks, gloves plus the extra layers we provide - you will be toasty warm even in the snow!!
Winter scrambling during the coldest months is suitable for: Age 16+ (Feb half term onwards for young explorers)

For those that dare...
Try your hand at abseiling at one of our spectacular locations:
Hodge Close Quarry abseil is a whopping 85ft high and Cathedral Quarry is a heart-stopping 150ft! Both venues are complete with stunning Lake District views and a glimpse into the rich history of mining that surrounds the Coniston Valley.
Experience the adrenaline of abseiling down the massive walls into the depths of the Quarry.
Our experienced instructors will be on hand to offer advice and keep you safe.

Bushcraft Fundamentals
Get to grips with the basics of survival!
Set in glorious woodland overlooking the Lakeland fells, you'll learn the fundamentals of survival and cook a delicious lunch of whole Rainbow Trout over the fire.
You will of course have a go at lighting the fire, only using traditional methods, such as flint and steel with natural tinder and also try your hand at friction fire lighting with the fire bow and drill! You will also bake fresh bread and roast potatoes over the fire.
We'll teach you how to use tools and knives to cut and carve wood. We will also teach you how to gut, fillet and prepare a whole Rainbow Trout and cook it indigenous style over an open fire.
The session takes place in an area covered with a large parachute, so you can stay dry whatever the weather. There is also a composting toilet provided for your comfort throughout the day.
Suitable for: Age 12+
Fitness Level: This is a very relaxed activity, there is a short uphill walk to the wood.
We provide: All specialist equipment. Food and hot drinks plus a bushcraft knife to take away.

Tranquil with stunning mountain views.
Get ready for an unforgettable adventure on the stunning Coniston Water. Paddle your canoe to the famous Wild Cat Island from the book and feature film 'Swallows and Amazons'. Coniston boasts a rich history including the legendary water speed record set by Donald Campbell in the Bluebird during the 1960s. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the iconic Old Man of Coniston and watch as the Steam Gondola and sailboats glide by.
